LYON TASTING MENU

A TRIP TO LYON
A tasting menu featuring the cuisine and wines of Lyon

Dinner, Friday, October 24 through Saturday, November 1

We invite you to join us for our regionally inspired tasting menu experience as chef Matt Sieger prepares a very special three-course menu that showcases the classic dishes of the town using the fresh produce of Northern California. Each course will be complemented by wines selected by our sommelier team from the finest growing regions surrounding Lyon, Burgundy, and Rhone.

An old Roman city, Lyon is located between Northern and Southern France. Lyon first made its mark on the French culinary scene in the nineteenth century, when the city was the center of the booming silk industry. Hungry silk workers clustered in tiny bistros, called “bouchons” to consume the robust, cheap fare necessary to carry them through their 18-hour workdays. At the turn of the century, the most popular bouchons and restaurants were run by women, formerly of large bourgeois families that had to let go their cooks. According to “French Provincial Cooking” by Elizabeth David, it was through these “mères” (mothers) that the cuisine of Lyon became widely known and respected.
